Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

Neurodiversity-affirming therapy does not follow specific interventions and goals. Rather, it represents a fundamental mindset that not only acknowledges but also celebrates the wide array of strengths, challenges, and interests that exist across all neurotypes.

Historically, the prevailing perspective attempted to "fix" neurodiversity, frequently leading to masking behaviors and detrimental effects on mental health. An affirming approach involves recognizing and honoring the unique differences present in each individual.

By fostering acceptance and appreciation for diverse neurotypes, therapy plays a pivotal role in nurturing personal growth and well-being. This inclusive approach enables individuals to embrace their individuality and thrive in their own authentic ways.

As a neurodiversity-affirming clinician I am committed to furthering my training and consulting with neurodiverse colleagues to provide the best care.
